.pub to PDF
Convert .pub to PDF, free and private
Turn Publisher files into PDFs that open anywhere. The conversion runs in your browser, so your files are never uploaded, and the PDFs have no watermark.
- No sign-up
- No watermark
- Nothing uploaded
- Works offline once loaded
How to convert
- Open the converter. “PDF” is already chosen.
- Add your files: drop them on the page, press “Choose files”, or on a computer “Choose a folder”.
- Download: one PDF at a time, or “Download all (ZIP)” for the lot. The ZIP keeps your subfolders and adds a small spreadsheet (CSV) that lists each file, its pages and anything to check.
What you get
- The same page size as the original, whether it’s A4, Letter, a folded card or a large poster.
- Real text, not a picture of text. You can search it and copy it.
- Fonts embedded in the PDF, so it looks the same on every computer. Fonts we’re not allowed to include are replaced with look-alikes, and the file says so.
- Stories that run across pages stay in order. Newsletter articles that continue in another text box or on another page carry on where they left off instead of starting over.
- Pictures, shapes, tables, bullets and WordArt, including text that wraps around pictures.
- A plain-words report on each file: a green tick when we found nothing to worry about, or “please check page 3” when something didn’t fit or couldn’t be drawn.
We measure this against PDFs that Publisher made itself. On our test files our pages match Publisher’s better than LibreOffice’s do. See the method, the scores and the side-by-side pictures.

Questions
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 200 MB. Very large, picture-heavy files take longer and need more memory; a laptop or desktop handles them better than a phone.
Can I send the PDF to a print shop?
For everyday printing, yes: page size, fonts and pictures are all in the PDF. It is made for screens and office printers: there are no bleed or crop marks and no special print-shop colour settings, so for professional colour printing ask your printer whether that suits them.
Why does the preview look a bit different from my PDF?
The small picture next to each file is the preview that Publisher saved inside the .pub file when it was last saved. It shows what the file looked like in Publisher, which helps you spot anything that changed.
Which Publisher versions work?
Files from Publisher 2002 up to the last Microsoft 365 version work best. Older files from Publisher 95 to 2000 usually open too, but they are less tested: some styles and pictures may be missing, and a few won’t open.
Can I convert to pictures instead?
Yes. Choose “Images (PNG)” above the drop area and you get one picture per page, handy for social media, websites or slides.
